Himself
03:30
|
|||
I heard of a man, driving alone
His tale is one of a wandering soul
Left his mother behind to find himself fame
Though all know his travels, none know his name
Tales of glory, of loneliness, of sadness indeed
And he's gone and now there's no one to grieve
He'll sit on the large golden throne
All alone, by himself
His story is long and well known indeed
He fought monsters and men full of greed
Flew a flag for the wise and the just
Where'er he went, he inspired trust
Tales of glory, of loneliness, of sadness indeed
And he's gone and now there's no one to grieve
He'll sit on the large golden throne
All alone, by himself

Canadee I O
04:37
|
|||
It's of a fair and a handsome girl
She's all in her tender years
She fell in love with a sailor boy
And its true that she loved him well
For to go off to sea with him
Like she did not know how
She longed to see that seaport town
Called Canadee I O
So she bargained with a sailor boy
All for a piece of gold
Straight way he led her
Down into the hold
Saying “I'll dress you up in sailor clothes
Your colour shall be blue
You'll see that seaport town
Called Canadee I O”
When the other sailors heard the news
They fell into a rage
And with the whole ship's company
They were willing to engage
Saying “We'll tie her hands and feet me boys
Overboard we'll throw her
And she'll never see that seaport town
Of Canadee I O”
And when the captain he heard the news
He too fell into a rage
And with the whole ship's company
He was willing to engage
Saying “She'll stay in her sailor clothes
Her colour shall be blue
She'll see that seaport town
Of Canadee I O”
When they got down to Canada
Scarcely above half a year
She's went to marry that bold captain
Who called her his dear
She's dressed all in silks and satins now
And she puts a gallant show
She's the finest of all the ladies
Down Canadee I O
Come all you fair and handsome girls
Whomsoever you may be
I'd have you follow your own true love
When e'er he goes to sea
If the sailors prove false to you
Then the captain he might prove true
You'll see the honour I have gained
By the wearing of the blue

Let Union Be
03:38
|
|||
Come on, lads, and let's be jolly
Drive away all melancholy,
For, to grieve it would be folly
When we are together
Let union be in all our hearts,
Let all our hearts be joined as one.
We'll end the day as we begun,
We'll end it all in pleasure
Whack-for-a-lol-lol, too-ra-lie-roe
Whack-for-a-lol-lol, too-ra-lie-roe
Whack-for-a-lol-lol, too-ra-lie-roe
When we are together
King Solomon, in all his glory,
Told each wife a different story,
Of the things that we delight in,
When we are together
Eating, drinking they're quite charming,
Smoking, piping there's no harm in,
All these things we do delight in
When we are together
Grab the bottle as it passes,
Do not fail to fill your glasses.
Water drinkers are all lasses,
When we are together
Cease your quarreling, cease your fighting,
Evil thinking and backbiting.
All these things take no delight in,
When we are together

Shiver Me Timbers
03:59
|
|||
I'm leavin' my fam'ly
Leavin' all my friends
My body's at home
But my heart's in the wind
Where the clouds are like headlines
On a new front-page sky
My tears are salt water
And the moon's full and high
And I know Martin Eden's
Gonna be proud of me
And many before me
Who've been called by the sea
To be up in the crow's nest
Singin' my say
Shiver me timbers'
Cause I'm a-sailin' away
And the fog's liftin'
And the sand's shiftin'
I'm driftin' on out
Ol' Captain Ahab
He ain't got nothin' on me, now
So swallow me, don't follow me
I'm trav'lin' alone
Blue water's my daughter
'n I'm gonna skip like a stone
So please call my missus
Gotta tell her not to cry'
Cause my goodbye is written
By the moon in the sky
Hey and nobody knows me
I can't fathom my stayin'
Shiver me timbers'
Cause I'm a-sailin' away
And the fog's liftin'
And the sand's shiftin'
I'm driftin' on out
Ol' Captain Ahab
He ain't got nothin' on me
So come and swallow me, follow me
I'm trav'lin' alone
Blue water's my daughter
'n I'm gonna skip like a stone
And I'm leavin' my family
Leavin' all my friends
My body's at home
But my heart's in the wind
Where the clouds are like headlines
Upon a new front-page sky
And shiver me timbers'
Cause I'm a-sailin' away

I know of a place, you may know it well
In fact you may know of the tale that I'll tell
Of a man who will drink but he will pay for naught
He's Teddy the Red Deer Scrooge.
A fresh face he'll find, and cosy up to
He'll start up a tale, but afore he is through
His memory will fade unless a pint is brought
He's Teddy the Red Deer Scrooge.
But when the pints done, Teddy's not done
"A whiskey" he'll cry, "A whiskey for one"
And he'll never shut up 'less you bring it right now
He's Teddy the Red Deer Scrooge.
And after it's drunk, his tale he won't end
He'll go grab his coat, he'll say "Farewell friend!"
Then he's off through the door and you'll see no more
Teddy the Red Deer Scrooge.
At last, the people finally gave in
"Teddy" they said, "We've had enough of your sin"
"You'll pay for a pint, and you'll pay right now"
Poor Teddy the Red Deer Scrooge.
But Teddy cried out, and clutched at his chest
"Dear friends, my heart makes me feel not quite my best"
Then he cried out loud just before he hit the floor
Poor Teddy the Red Deer Scrooge.
A doctor called out above all the furore
"He's dead for his liver couldn't take it no more"
And the whole crowd fell silent and started to mourn
For Teddy the Red Deer Scrooge.
So Teddy is gone, and the scam is now done
But it seems it was all part of Teddy's fun
I swear that last week I saw just down the road
Teddy the Red Deer Scrooge!

Celtic Sea
03:49
|
|||
How curious the light behaves
Reflecting off the dancing waves.
Oh how my very being craves
A view from down below.
Suspended in my watery lair,
I would not need to gasp for air,
For I'm no longer human there
Beneath the icy flow.
It's peaceful there, but I have found
I still can hear the distant sound
Of voices of the souls who drowned
And left loved ones to mourn.
The lonely wails transmit the pain
Of those who just could not remain
So journeyed to the unknown plane.
But in this world there still exist
Survivors who will always miss
The passion of their lovers' kiss
That warmed them night and day.
Though here above the vast, cold sea,
My heart is without tragedy,
For I have someone dear to me
Who hasn't passed away.
It's peaceful there, but I have found
I still can hear the distant sound
Of voices of the souls who drowned
And left loved ones to mourn.
The lonely wails transmit the pain
Of those who just could not remain
So journeyed to the unknown plane.\
Never let that be untrue,
For I could not bear thoughts of you
Trapped underneath the ocean blue
Deprived of your last breath.
No harm to you would I condone,
For I'd be left here on my own
To face this tragic world alone,
A fate far worse than death.
It's peaceful there, but I have found
I still can hear the distant sound
Of voices of the souls who drowned
And left loved ones to mourn.
The lonely wails transmit the pain
Of those who just could not remain
So journeyed to the unknown plane.

Birth of Robin Hood
05:19
|
|||
Oh Willie’s tall, and Willie’s strong
And he is born of high degree
And he has gone to Earl Richard
To serve obediently
Earl Richard had one daughter dear
The finest to be seen
And Willie fell in love with her
All in the garden green
The summer’s night was warm and still
And brightly shone the moon
And Willie’s met his sweetheart
In the garden, all alone
“Oh narrow is my gown, Willie,
That wont be so wide
And gold is all my fair colour
That wont to be my pride”
“But if my father should find out
What’s passed between us two
Before that he would eat or drink
He would hang you o’er that wall”
“But come up to my bower, Willie
Just as the sun goes down
And catch me in your two strong arms
And let me not fall down”
So when the sun has set in low
He has gone up to her bower
And by the pale light of the moon
Her window she looks o’er
All in that robe of red scarlet
She jumps, and fills the sky
And Willie was tall and Willie was strong
And he caught her in his arms
When night was done, and day was come
And the light began to creep
Well up then rose the Earl Richard
From out of his drowsy sleep
“Well I dreamed a dreadful dream last night
God grant it come to good
I dreamed I saw my daughter dear
Drowning in the flood”
So he’s called to him his servant men
By one, by two, by three
“Oh what’s become of my daughter dear
That she’ll not come to me?”
“If that she’s been stolen away
Or taken from this hall
Well I’ll make a vow and I’ll keep it true
I’ll hang you one and all”
So they searched east
And they searched west
And they searched up and down
They found her in the merry green wood
Nursing her bonny young son
Well he’s taken the baby all in his arms
And kissed him tenderly
Saying “Although I would your father hang
Yet your mother is dear to me”
He kissed him once, he kissed him twice
“My grandson I thee claim
And Robin Hood, in the merry green wood
That shall be your name”
There’s many that sing of green green grass
And sing of golden corn
And there’s many that sing of Robin Hood
Know not where he was born
It wasn’t in the lofty hall
Or in the dainty bower
But it was in the merry green wood
All among the lily flower

Haul Away Boys
03:23
|
|||
Haul away boys, haul away
Haul away for Rosie!
Haul away boys, haul away
We're rolling down to Rio
Thirty men were homeward bound
Haul away for Rose!
Never saw their dear sweet town
We're rolling down to Rio
Sank a week from when they sailed
Haul away for Rosie!
And now few mourn their sad tale
We're rolling down to Rio
Those brave boys sailed for the king
Haul away for Rosie!
And they damn near lost everything
We're rolling down to Rio
Betrayed by lust for jewels and gold
Haul away for Rosie!
Their ship sunk with an empty hold
We're rolling down to Rio
The king he lies he takes the lot
Haul away for Rosie!
Hopes the tales will be forgot
We're rolling down to Rio
But we know of the General's greed
Haul away for Rosie!
And we sang of those dreadful deeds
We're rolling down to Rio
Sent to Bedlam for our crimes
Haul away for Rosie!
Our singing of these dreadful times
We're rolling down to Rio
We're still sane and singing strong
Haul away for Rosie!
Pray to God he'll hear these wrongs
We're rolling down to Rio
General says at morn we'll hang
Haul away for Rosie!
For the lies we all have sang
We're rolling down to Rio
General says we'll rot in hell
Haul away for Rosie!
But if we do he will as well
We're rolling down to Rio

Got no charts for where we're bound
Roll on Santyanna
Once we're clear of Plymouth Sound
We're rolling down to Rio
Take our chances with the tide
Roll on Santyanna
Stars and luck to be our guide
We're rolling down to Rio
Darkness falls, courage calls you
New horizons with the dawn
Too late now to turn and run
We're rolling down to Rio
Take our leave of those on shore
Roll on Santyanna
Some of them we'll see no more
We're rolling down to Rio
Leave the harbour far behind
Roll on Santyanna
No idea of what we'll find
We're rolling down to Rio
Head held high, colours flying
New horizons with the dawn
Too late now to turn and run
We're rolling down to Rio
